Instructions

Wash and trim the 1 lb fresh green beans trimmed, snapping or cutting off the stem ends. Pat them dry with a paper towel — dry 1 lb fresh green beans trimmed sauté instead of steam.

Uses

  • Green Bean
  • 2–3 min
  • Medium-high

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the 2 tbsp olive oil and 1 tbsp unsalted butter. Once the 1 tbsp unsalted butter is melted and the pan is hot (but not smoking), add the 1 lb fresh green beans trimmed in a single layer. Let them cook undisturbed for 2–3 minutes until they begin to blister and char slightly on one side.

Uses

  • Skillet
  • Olive Oil
  • Unsalted Butter
  • Green Bean
  • 3–4 min

Toss the 1 lb fresh green beans trimmed and continue to sauté for another 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are bright green, tender-crisp, and lightly browned in spots. Season with ½ tsp kosher salt and ¼ tsp black pepper.

Uses

  • Green Bean
  • Salt
  • Black Pepper
  • 1–2 min
  • Medium-low

Reduce the heat to medium-low and push the 1 lb fresh green beans trimmed to the edges of the pan. Add the sliced garlic to the center and cook for 60–90 seconds, stirring constantly, until fragrant and just golden — watch carefully so it doesn't burn.

Uses

  • Green Bean
  • Garlic

Toss everything together. If using, add the ½ tsp red pepper flakes and toasted sliced sliced almonds toasted and toss to combine. Squeeze the ½ whole lemon juiced over the top, taste, and adjust seasoning. Transfer to a serving platter and garnish with 2 tbsp fresh parsley roughly chopped if desired. Serve immediately.
