Frozen Matcha Lemonade
About this recipe
This viral frozen matcha lemonade is the ultimate refreshing summer drink — a slushy, icy blend of earthy ceremonial-grade matcha, bright fresh lemon juice, and just enough sweetness to balance it all out. It's the trendy café drink you can make at home in under 10 minutes with a blender and a handful of pantry staples.
Instructions
- 1
Sift 2 teaspoons of ceremonial-grade matcha powder into a small mixing bowl to break up any clumps. Add 3 tablespoons of ![hot water (around 175°F — not boiling, which can make matcha bitter)] and 2 tablespoons of simple syrup. Whisk vigorously in a small 'W' or 'M' motion until the matcha powder is fully dissolved and slightly frothy with no lumps. Set aside.
- 2
Add the fresh lemon juice, remaining 2 tablespoons of simple syrup, cold water, and 2 packed cups of ice to a blender. Blend on high for 30–45 seconds until you have a smooth, slushy consistency. Taste and adjust sweetness with more simple syrup if needed.
- 3
Divide the lemonade slush evenly between two tall glasses. Slowly pour the prepared matcha powder mixture over the top of each glass — it will naturally layer on top of the slush for a beautiful two-tone effect. Do not stir yet.

Garnish each glass with a lemon slice on the rim and a light dusting of matcha powder on top if desired. Serve immediately with a straw and stir just before drinking to swirl the matcha powder and lemonade together. Enjoy right away for the best slushy texture.
