Crispy Tofu
About this recipe
Golden, shatteringly crispy tofu made effortlessly in the air fryer — no deep-frying required. Pressing out the moisture and tossing the cubes in cornstarch is the secret to that irresistible crunch. Serve over rice, noodles, or salads for a satisfying, protein-packed meal the whole family will love.
Instructions
- 1
Press the tofu: Wrap the block of extra-firm tofu in several layers of paper towel and set a heavy skillet or tofu press on top. Let it press for at least 15 minutes (or up to 30 minutes for maximum crispiness). Once pressed, cut the tofu into 1-inch cubes.
- 2
Marinate and coat: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, and olive oil. Add the tofu cubes and gently toss to coat. Let sit for 5 minutes. Sprinkle the cornstarch, garlic powder, fine sea salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika (if using) over the tofu and toss again until every cube is evenly coated.

Air fry: Preheat your air fryer to ![400°F] for 3 minutes. Arrange the tofu cubes in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure they are not touching. Air fry for 15–18 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until the tofu is deeply golden and crispy on all sides.

Serve: Transfer the crispy tofu to a plate and garnish with toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Serve immediately over steamed rice, noodles, or alongside your favorite dipping sauce.
