Ants on a Log
About this recipe
A beloved childhood classic that's as fun to make as it is to eat! Crisp celery stalks are filled with creamy peanut butter and topped with raisins — the 'ants' — for a snack that's nutritious, no-cook, and endlessly customizable. Perfect for lunchboxes, after-school snacks, or a playful appetizer kids can assemble themselves.
Instructions
- 1
Wash the celery stalks thoroughly under cold running water. Pat dry with paper towel. Trim the leafy tops and the base of each stalk, then cut each stalk into 3-inch pieces (you should get about 3–4 pieces per stalk).
- 2
Using a knife, spread a generous layer of creamy peanut butter into the curved hollow (the 'log') of each celery piece. Fill it evenly from end to end without overfilling — about 1–1.5 teaspoons per piece works well.
- 3
Press raisins gently into the creamy peanut butter in a single line down the center of each piece, spacing them slightly apart so they look like little ants marching along the log. Use about 3–5 raisins per piece.
- 4
Arrange the finished logs on a plate and serve immediately, or cover and refrigerate for up to 2 days. If desired, drizzle with honey or add any optional toppings before serving.
