Golden Milk Latte
About this recipe
A warm, soothing golden milk latte made with turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, and your choice of milk. This anti-inflammatory powerhouse is naturally caffeine-free, subtly sweet, and beautifully fragrant — perfect for a cozy morning ritual or a calming wind-down drink before bed. This well-tested recipe balances earthy turmeric with warming spices and just a touch of black pepper to boost absorption.
Instructions
- 1
Measure all your spices — turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, black pepper, and cardamom (if using) — into a small saucepan. This keeps the process smooth and ensures even distribution.
- 2
Pour the milk into the saucepan with the spices. Add the coconut oil or butter if using. Whisk everything together until the spices are evenly dispersed — there will be no clumping if you whisk before heating.
- 3
Heat the mixture over ^[medium-low heat], whisking frequently, until it is steaming hot and just beginning to simmer around the edges. Do not let it boil — boiling can scorch the milk and dull the spice flavor. This takes about 5 to 7 minutes.
- 4
Remove from heat. Stir in the honey (or maple syrup) and vanilla extract if using. Taste and adjust sweetness or spice level to your preference.
- 5
Optional but recommended: pour the latte through a fine mesh colander into your mug to remove any undissolved spice particles, resulting in a silky smooth drink.
- 6
For a frothy finish, use a milk frother or immersion blender to briefly blend the latte directly in the saucepan or a tall mug before pouring. This creates a beautiful, café-style foam. Serve immediately in warm mug and dust with a tiny pinch of cinnamon on top.
