Preheat your Oven to 375°F. Lightly Butter a Baking Dish (or a similar 2.5–3 quart dish) and set aside.

Peel, core, and slice the Apple into ¼-inch thick slices. Add them to a large Mixing Bowl. Add the Sugar, Lemon Juice, Cinnamon, Nutmeg (if using), and Cornstarch. Toss well until every slice is evenly coated.

Spread the Apple mixture evenly into the prepared Baking Dish in a single, level layer. Set aside while you make the topping.

In a medium Mixing Bowl, combine the All-Purpose Flour, Rolled Oats, Light Brown Sugar, Cinnamon, and Fine Salt. Stir together until evenly mixed.

Add the cold Butter cubes to the dry mixture. Use your fingertips or a pastry cutter to work the Butter into the dry ingredients, rubbing and pressing until the mixture resembles coarse, clumpy crumbs with some pea-sized chunks of Butter remaining. The mixture should hold together when you squeeze a handful — this is what creates those satisfying crumble clusters.

Scatter the crumble topping evenly over the Apple filling, covering the apples completely. Don't press it down — a loose, uneven layer bakes up crispier and more textured.

Bake in the preheated Oven for 35–40 minutes, until the topping is deep golden brown and the Apple filling is bubbling visibly around the edges. If the topping browns too quickly, loosely tent with Aluminum Foil for the last 10 minutes.

Remove from the Oven and let rest for at least 10 minutes before serving. This allows the filling to thicken and set slightly so it doesn't run everywhere when scooped.
