An 8-hour smoke for a 6:00 pm dinner has to start around 9:00 am — at 5:00 pm it’s too late. Homii reads the long steps in the recipe and counts each one back from your ready-by time.
Only genuinely long jobs get placed — a smoke, a brine, a slow braise. A 20-minute sauté stays in the recipe where it belongs.

Frequently asked questions
Does Homii assign cooking jobs to people by itself?
No. Suggestions arrive marked as suggestions and are never assigned to a person automatically. You confirm, change, or dismiss — and a dismissed suggestion stays dismissed.
Where do the timings come from?
From the recipe. A long step — a smoke, a brine, a slow braise — is counted back from your ready-by time, so an 8-hour smoke for a 6:00 pm dinner lands its start around 9:00 am instead of surprising you at 5:00 pm.
What happens when dinner moves?
Every job derived from the dinner time moves with it. Any job you placed or retimed yourself is pinned — Homii never moves a time a person chose.
How does Homii learn who does what?
From real dinners. When one person has genuinely owned a job — say 17 of the last 18 grill nights — Homii starts suggesting them, with the count shown so you can check it. It takes a few weeks of evidence, never a day-one guess.
Does this fill up my to-do list?
No. Cook jobs live on the calendar with the dinner they belong to, not in the To Do list — and if the meal changes, its jobs change with it.
