In a mixing bowl, stir together the 2 cans refried beans, 1 tsp cumin, ½ tsp garlic powder, and ½ tsp chili powder until well combined and smooth.

Uses

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Refried Beans
  • Ground Cumin
  • Garlic Powder
  • Chili Powder

Spread the seasoned 2 cans refried beans in an even layer across the bottom of a baking dish (glass or ceramic works best so guests can see the layers). Use an spatula or the back of a spoon to spread it all the way to the edges.

Uses

  • Baking Dish
  • Spatula
  • Refried Beans

In the same mixing bowl, stir together the 1 cup sour cream, 1 cup mayonnaise, and 1 package taco seasoning until smooth and fully combined.

Uses

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Sour Cream
  • Mayonnaise
  • Taco Seasoning

Carefully spread the 1 cup sour cream mixture evenly over the bean layer, going all the way to the edges.

Uses

  • Sour Cream
  • Refried Beans

Halve and pit the 4 whole ripe avocados. Scoop the flesh into a mixing bowl and mash with a fork to your preferred consistency — slightly chunky is ideal. Stir in the 2 tbsp lime juice, ½ tsp kosher salt, and ½ tsp garlic powder.

Uses

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Avocado
  • Lime Juice
  • Salt
  • Garlic Powder

Gently spread the guacamole over the 1 cup sour cream layer. Work carefully so the layers stay distinct.

Uses

  • Sour Cream

If your 1 ½ cups chunky salsa is very watery, drain it briefly in a sieve or dab with a paper towel. Excess liquid will make the dip soggy. Spoon the 1 ½ cups chunky salsa evenly over the guacamole layer and spread gently.

Uses

  • Sieve
  • Salsa

Sprinkle the 2 cups Mexican blend shredded cheese evenly over the entire surface of the chunky salsa layer.

Uses

  • Mexican Blend Cheese
  • Salsa

Scatter the drained sliced sliced black olives evenly over the 2 cups Mexican blend shredded cheese.

Uses

  • Black Olives
  • Mexican Blend Cheese
  • 30 min

Scatter the sliced green onions over the top as the final layer. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving — this lets the flavors meld and the layers firm up for cleaner scooping.

Uses

  • Plastic Wrap
  • Green Onion

Serve directly from the dish with a 1 large bag tortilla chips on the side. Scoop straight down with each chip to get all seven layers in one bite!

Uses

  • Tortilla Chips
