Rinse the fresh ramo menta under cold water and gently shake off the excess. Lightly bruise the stems by pressing them with the flat side of a knife or simply squeezing them in your hand — this releases the essential oils and makes the tea much more flavorful.

Uses

  • Knife
  • Water
  • Medium-high

Pour the 2 cups agua filtrada into a small saucepan and bring it to a full boil over medium-high heat.

Uses

  • Saucepan

Remove the saucepan from the heat. Add the bruised 1 ramo menta bunch directly into the hot 2 cups agua filtrada, pressing it down so it is fully submerged.

Uses

  • Saucepan
  • 4–8 min

Let the 1 ramo menta steep, uncovered, for 4–5 minutes for a mild tea, or up to 8 minutes for a stronger, more intense flavor. The 2 cups agua filtrada will turn a pale golden-green color.

If using 1 tbsp miel / azúcar, stir it in now while the tea is still hot so it dissolves completely. Start with 1 tbsp and adjust to taste.

Pour the tea through a fine mesh sieve into two mugs or heat-safe glasses, leaving the 1 ramo menta behind. Add a slice of limón to each glass if desired, and serve immediately.
