Toast the 2 slices sourdough bread slices until golden and crisp. While they toast, spread a generous layer of whole-milk ricotta cheese on each slice and set aside.

Heat a small skillet over medium heat. Add the 3 tbsp basil pesto store-bought and spread it into an even layer across the bottom of the pan. Let it warm and sizzle for about 30 seconds until fragrant — you'll see the oil start to bubble around the edges.
