Add the 1 whole ripe avocado, 1 cup fresh basil leaves roughly torn, ½ cup fresh chives chopped, 3 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil, 3 tbsp lemon juice freshly squeezed, 1 clove garlic, 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar, and ½ tsp fine sea salt to a blender. Blend on high until completely smooth and creamy, about 30–45 seconds. If the dressing is too thick, add 2 tbsp water to thin dressing one tablespoon at a time and blend again until pourable. Taste and adjust ½ tsp fine sea salt or 3 tbsp lemon juice freshly squeezed as needed.

Finely shred the 4 cups green cabbage finely shredded using a sharp knife or mandoline — aim for thin, uniform strips so the dressing coats every piece. Dice the 1 large English cucumber into small, bite-sized pieces. Thinly slice the 4 stalks green onions and roughly tear the 1 cup fresh basil leaves roughly torn leaves. Add everything to a large mixing bowl along with the chopped fresh chives chopped and ½ cup edamame (if using).

If using 3 tbsp toasted pine nuts or 3 tbsp almonds for garnish, toast them in a dry skillet over medium heat for 2–3 minutes, stirring frequently, until golden and fragrant. Remove from heat immediately and set aside to cool.

Pour the green goddess dressing over the chopped salad and toss thoroughly until every piece is well coated. Taste and season with additional ½ tsp fine sea salt if needed. Transfer to a serving mixing bowl or platter, scatter toasted nuts on top, and serve immediately.
