About this recipe

The ultimate campfire classic — toasty, gooey, and impossibly satisfying. A golden-roasted marshmallow melts a square of chocolate between two crisp graham crackers for the perfect bite of sweet, smoky, and crunchy. This recipe covers every method: open fire, broiler, and stovetop, so you can enjoy s'mores any time of year.

Instructions

  1. 1

Break the Graham Cracker in half along the score line so you have 8 equal squares. Lay 4 squares flat on a clean surface or plate — these are your bases.

  2. 2

Break off a 2-rectangle section of Chocolate Bar (about 1/4 of a standard Hershey's bar) and place it centered on each of the 4 base Graham Cracker squares. Set the remaining 4 Graham Cracker squares nearby as the tops.

  3. 3

CAMPFIRE / FIRE PIT METHOD: Thread a Marshmallow onto a roasting stick or long skewer. Hold it 3–4 inches above glowing embers (not direct flame) and rotate slowly for an even, golden-brown toast — about 60–90 seconds. For a more charred exterior, you can briefly dip it into the flame, then pull back.

  4. 4

BROILER METHOD (indoor): Preheat your Oven Broiler to high. Place the Chocolate Bar-topped Graham Cracker on a Aluminum Foil-lined Baking Sheet. Set a Marshmallow on top of each Chocolate Bar piece. Broil 4–6 inches from the heating element for 60–90 seconds, watching constantly, until the Marshmallow are puffed and golden. Remove immediately.

  5. 5

STOVETOP / GAS FLAME METHOD: Using long metal Tongs or a skewer, hold a Marshmallow directly over a gas burner set to medium-low, rotating continuously until golden and soft, about 30–60 seconds. Be careful — Marshmallow can catch fire quickly over direct flame.

  6. 6

While the Marshmallow is still piping hot, slide it off the skewer (or lift with Tongs) onto the Chocolate Bar-topped Graham Cracker. Immediately press the second Graham Cracker square firmly on top and gently pull the skewer out while holding the sandwich together. The heat of the Marshmallow will melt the Chocolate Bar beneath it.

  7. 7

Let the s'more rest for 15–20 seconds so the Chocolate Bar can melt fully and the Marshmallow sets just slightly. Then enjoy immediately while warm and gooey!
