Prepare the salt rim (optional but classic): Pour 2 tbsp kosher salt for rimming the glasses onto a small flat plate. Run a 1 whole lime wedge for rimming and garnish around the outer rim of each glass to moisten it. Gently press and roll the moistened rim into the 2 tbsp kosher salt for rimming the glasses to coat. Set aside.

Uses

  • Salt
  • Lime Juice

Juice your 2 oz fresh lime juice about 2–3 limes fresh. You'll need about 2–3 limes to yield 2 oz of fresh lime juice about 2–3 limes. Fresh fresh lime juice about 2–3 limes makes a dramatic difference — avoid bottled 2 oz fresh lime juice about 2–3 limes if at all possible.

Uses

  • Lime Juice

Fill your cocktail shaker with a generous handful of ice for shaking. Add the 4 oz blanco tequila 100% agave recommended, fresh fresh lime juice about 2–3 limes, 1 ½ oz orange liqueur Cointreau, and ½ oz agave nectar.

  • 15–20 min

Seal the shaker and shake vigorously for 15–20 seconds, until the outside of the shaker feels very cold and frosty. This properly chills and dilutes the cocktail to the right balance.

Uses

  • Shaker

Fill your prepared glasses with fresh ice for shaking. Strain the margarita over the 1 cup ice for shaking using the shaker's built-in strainer or a separate colander.

Uses

  • Shaker
  • Colander
  • Ice

Garnish each glass with a 1 whole lime wedge for rimming and garnish on the rim. Taste and adjust — if it's too tart, add a small drizzle more ½ oz agave nectar; if too sweet, add a small squeeze of fresh lime juice about 2–3 limes. Serve immediately.

  • Agave Nectar
