Instructions

Finely chop the 12 oz semi-sweet chocolate finely chopped and place it in a heatproof mixing bowl or the insert of your fondue pot. The finer the chop, the faster and more evenly it will melt.

Uses

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Fondue Pot
  • Semisweet Chocolate
  • Medium

In a small saucepan over medium heat, warm the 1 cup heavy cream until it just begins to simmer — small bubbles will form around the edges. Do not let it boil.

Uses

  • Saucepan
  • Heavy Cream
  • 2 min

Pour the hot cream over the chopped semi-sweet chocolate finely chopped. Let it sit undisturbed for 2 minutes to allow the 12 oz semi-sweet chocolate finely chopped to soften.

Uses

  • Heavy Cream
  • Semisweet Chocolate

Add the 2 tbsp unsalted butter cut into small pieces pieces, 1 tsp pure vanilla extract, and 1 pinch fine salt. Starting from the center and working outward, whisk slowly and steadily until the mixture is completely smooth and glossy. If using 2 tbsp liqueur such as Kahlúa, stir it in now.

If the 12 oz semi-sweet chocolate finely chopped is not fully melted, place the mixing bowl over a pot of barely simmering water (double-boiler style) and stir gently until smooth. Alternatively, microwave in 20-second bursts, stirring between each, until melted.

Transfer the finished fondue to a fondue pot set over a low tea-light flame or the lowest burner setting to keep it warm and fluid. If you don't have a fondue pot, a small slow cooker on the 'warm' setting works great.

  • Slow Cooker

Arrange all your dipping items on a large serving platters (Large) or cutting board around the fondue pot: 1 lb fresh strawberries hulled, 2 medium bananas sliced into 1-inch rounds slices, 1 cup marshmallows large, 8 oz pound cake or brownie bites cut into 1-inch cubes or brownie cubes, 1 cup pretzels mini, and 1 medium apple cored and sliced into wedges slices.
