Apple Chips
About this recipe
Thin, crispy apple chips made effortlessly in the air fryer with just a handful of pantry staples. Lightly dusted with cinnamon and a touch of sugar, these naturally sweet snacks are a guilt-free treat the whole family will love. No dehydrator needed — the air fryer delivers perfectly crisp results in a fraction of the time.
Instructions
- 1
Using a mandoline or a sharp knife, slice the large apples crosswise into very thin rounds, about 1/16 inch thick. Remove any seeds. Pat the slices dry with paper towel to remove excess moisture — this is key for crispiness.
- 2
In a small mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and fine sea salt. Toss the large apples slices with the lemon juice and melted coconut oil (and vanilla extract if using), then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over both sides of each slice.
- 3
Preheat your air fryer to ![300°F]. Arrange the large apples slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket — do not overlap. Work in batches as needed. Air fry for 8–10 minutes, flip each slice carefully, then continue cooking for another 8–10 minutes until the edges are curled and the chips look dry and lightly golden.
- 4
Remove the chips from the air fryer and let them cool on a wire rack or flat surface for 5–10 minutes — they will continue to crisp up as they cool. Drizzle with maple syrup if desired. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
