  • 1–2 min

Chill your rocks glass by filling it with 1 cubito de hielo grande water and letting it sit for 1–2 minutes while you prepare the cocktail. Dump the water and 1 cubito de hielo grande before building the drink.

Uses

  • Rocks Glass

In a mixing bowl, combine the 1 cucharadita de almíbar simple (or 1 terrón de azúcar) and both 2 dashes bitters Angostura and 1 dash bitters de naranja. If using a 1 terrón de azúcar, add 3–4 drops of water and muddle the cube until it fully dissolves — do not skip this step or you'll get a gritty drink.

Uses

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Simple Syrup
  • Orange Bitters
  • Angostura Bitters

Add the 2 oz rye whiskey to the mixing bowl. Fill the mixing bowl with 1 cubito de hielo grande (standard cubes are fine here).

  • 1–1 min

Stir steadily with a bar spoon for 30–45 seconds — about 40–50 rotations. You want the drink well-chilled and properly diluted. Stirring (not shaking) keeps it silky and clear.

Uses

  • Bar Spoon

Place your 1 cubito de hielo grande (or a few standard 1 cubito de hielo grande) into the chilled rocks glass. Strain the cocktail over the 1 cubito de hielo grande using a colander or colander.

To express the 1 pieza cáscara de naranja una: hold the strip of peel skin-side down over the glass and give it a firm twist/squeeze to release the oils — you should see a fine mist spray across the surface of the drink. Run the peel around the rim of the glass, then drop it in or drape it over the 1 cubito de hielo grande.

Uses

  • Orange Peel

Add a 1 pieza cereza de cóctel if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy.
