  • High

Bring 4 cups of 4 cups agua para hervir to a rolling boil in a Pot over high heat. Add the dry ½ cup perlas de tapioca negra secas, sin cocinar — busca perlas boba 'cocción rápida' o estándar and stir immediately to prevent sticking.

Uses

  • Pot
  • 5–15 min

Cook the pearls uncovered, stirring occasionally, for 15 minutes (or per package directions — quick-cook pearls may only need 5 minutes). They should float to the top and look glossy and slightly translucent on the outside.

Uses

  • Black Tapioca Pearls
  • 15 min

Turn off the heat, cover the Pot, and let the pearls rest in the hot 4 cups agua para hervir for another 15 minutes. This finishes cooking them through to a perfectly chewy center without turning mushy.

Uses

  • Pot
  • 2–3 min
  • Medium-Low

While the pearls rest, make the 3 tbsp miel syrup: combine 3 tbsp miel, 2 tbsp azúcar moreno comprimido, and 2 tablespoons of 4 cups agua para hervir in a small Saucepan over medium-low heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves completely, about 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

Uses

  • Saucepan
  • 5 min

Drain the pearls through a Sieve and rinse briefly with 4 cups agua para hervir. Transfer the pearls to the warm 3 tbsp miel syrup and gently stir to coat. Let them soak in the syrup for at least 5 minutes.

Uses

  • Sieve
  • 4–5 min

Steep the 2 tbsp hojas de té negro: place 2 tbsp hojas de té negro leaves or bags in a heatproof container and pour 2 cups of just-boiled water over them. Steep for 4–5 minutes for a bold, strong brew — bubble tea is best with a robust tea base so the flavor isn't lost under 4 cups agua para hervir and ½ cup leche entera o mitad y mitad para mayor cremosidad.

Uses

  • Water
  • Black Tea
  • 10–15 min

Remove the 2 tbsp hojas de té negro leaves or bags and let the tea cool to room temperature, or speed this up by placing it in the Refrigerator for 10–15 minutes. The tea should be at least room temperature before pouring over 4 cups agua para hervir.

Uses

  • Black Tea

Spoon a generous portion of ½ cup perlas de tapioca negra secas, sin cocinar — busca perlas boba 'cocción rápida' o estándar (about 3–4 tablespoons) into the bottom of each tall glass, along with a spoonful of the 3 tbsp miel syrup.

Uses

  • Black Tapioca Pearls

Fill each glass with a generous amount of 4 cups agua para hervir. Pour the cooled 2 tbsp hojas de té negro over the 4 cups agua para hervir, filling the glass about two-thirds full.

Add the ½ cup leche entera o mitad y mitad para mayor cremosidad and ½ cup leche entera o mitad y mitad para mayor cremosidad (if using) to each glass. Stir well with a long spoon or give it a good shake if using a lidded cup. Taste and adjust sweetness by adding more 3 tbsp miel syrup as desired. Serve immediately with a wide boba straw.
